general description

Using descriptions for musical events that were pioneered serialist composers, students can find ways of manipulating musical data based on predetermined rules. The computer even allows this to happen in real-time. These techniques are distinctive because they organize musical/sound events in meaningful and unique ways that a human composer could not.

additional requirements

  • Each group must have some element of both algorithmic composition and machine listening.
  • Identify instrument and controllers to be used early.
  • Setup wiki page to document techniques used, development process and final results.
  • Must have system workflow diagram to explain connection between instrument, controllers and computer.
